I think he was being a wiseass throughout the entire interview. He 
probably was told he needed to bulk up for the role but I doubt he 
added 100 pounds. From the on set stills I've seen of him I would 
say he might have added twenty or thirty pounds. I took the steroid 
comment as a zinger thrown in to get a laugh.
