That's where my confusion comes in. Note many quotes from really old stuff
like Burns and Allen, the Alka-Seltzer commerical (70s), the Smothers Brothers
and others. They cover the time periods that go back much farther than one
could expect someone in that age range to remember. And if they did, then
again, how'd they skip Laugh-In, which is from the same time as the Smothers
and was one of the cultural pulsebeat shows of the day? And Mission:
IMpossible???

Keith, please keep in mind that the people who cooked this up are all between
the ages of 18 and 30.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Oh yeah, a few more I'm surprised ain't on the list:

"Sock it to me!" (Laugh-In)
"We're the phone company. We don't care-we don't have to!" (Lily Tomlin,
"Laugh-In)
"I Got You Babe!" (Sonny and Cher, "The Sonny and Cher Show")

All of the above were cultural markers of the time uttered and loved by
millions. Way more memorable than "Welcome to the O.C., bi---"

Great list, but I can't imagine how "Welcome to the O.C., bitch" got on there!
Who the heck watches the O.C. enough to put that phrase up there with classics
like "Yabba Dabba Do!" and "Space--The Final Frontier"??? And I've never even
*heard* the supposedly classic line "That's hot" from Paris Hilton on "The
Simple Life"! They left out some that I'd put on the list way before any crap
from the O.C. or Hilton, like the following:

"This tape will self-destruct in five seconds" (Unseen control voice, "Mission:
Impossible") -- how the heck did they miss that one???

"Kiss my grits!" (Flo, "Alice")

"Get out!" (Elaine, "Seinfeld")

"Little Buddy!" - (The Skipper, "Gilligan's Island")

"Skipperrrr!" - (Gilligan, "Gilligan's Island")

"Damn! Damn! Damn!" (Florida Evans, "Good Times")

"Lets...Get...Busy!" (Arsenio Hall)

"We wish you Love, Peace, and--Soul!" (Don Cornelius, "Soul Train")

"Submitted for your approval" (Rod Serling, "The Twilight Zone")

"We will control the picture" (The narrator, "The Outer Limits")

"This week in the News" (Narrator introducing topics on "In The News")

If any one of our restaurants were better than the rest, then customers would
flocck to that location, creating a mass imbalance that could create a black
hole, which would swallow the Earth. That's why we make every McDonald's from
Pomona to Poughkeepsie the same good place to eat, thereby saving the
Universe.-from McDonald's commercial ,28 January 1990
