July 10, 2007 - It appears that the X-Men film franchise is indeed over
and that 20th Century Fox is intent on focusing on spin-off films such
as Wolverine and Magneto.

"There is no script for an X-Men 4, and there is none in the works,"
X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner advised The Hollywood Reporter.

THR reports that X-Men star Hugh Jackman has been paid $20 million to
reprise his role as the feral mutant Wolverine in the David
Benioff-penned spin-off. The trade claims Fox wants Wolverine in
theaters next year so Jackman is expected to segue immediately from the
Baz Luhrmann-directed Australia to Wolverine.

An unnamed source informed THR, "The idea is, they can finish him out in
September or October and put this one on the fast track so they can get
it out next summer."

Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) and D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) have
been rumored as directing candidates for Wolverine.
