The numbers are in for the "Battlestar Galactica" telemovie "Razor," and
it looks like SciFi Channel put out a movie specifically for those who
already are watching the series.

The two-hour event which aired last Saturday attracted 1.7 million
viewers, considered strong by basic cable standards, but basically
in-line with how many viewers the series has had throughout its third
season, according to TV Week. Among adults 18 to 49 -- a key advertising
demographic -- "Razor" earned a 0.8 rating, also up to par with its
average for the most recent season, and down from the third season
premiere more than nine months ago.

Typically, specials and the like get boosts in the ratings, but usually
only when it attracts viewers outside its normal fanbase. Although
"Razor" was an episode that provided significant amount of background to
attract viewers -- as well as a feature of classic Cylons to pique the
interest of fans of the original 1978 series -- numbers for the
telemovie overall remained flat.

A number of factors could have been involved, however, including the
fact that the show is not attracting new audiences outside its core fan
base. However, TV Week's James Hibberd did also remind his readers that
"Razor" aired on Thanksgiving weekend, a typically slower time for
television since many Americans are in the holiday mood.

"Battlestar Galactica" is set to premiere its fourth and final season in
April. An extended version of "Razor" hits DVD Dec. 4.
