Yeah, but that teenaged Stark wasn't an "Iron Man" in this sense, and certainly
not anything like they're planning. And yeah, you're right about stripping away
everything that makes Tony Stark work. I completely forgot about that part of
it, so focused on my dislike of the overall concept. But seeing Rhodes reduced
to a geek who runs tactical support from his bedroom network--that's really
upsetting!

Well there are two young Iron Men in the mythos: the teenaged Tony Stark that
replaced the Kang corrupted older version after The Crossing storyline. He was
rebooted to the "normal" version during Heroes Reborn. The Young Avengers had
Iron Lad but he turned out to be not a young Tony Stark but a young Kang.

That said I agree with you. This Tiny Tony version of Iron Man is not needed
and strips away a lot of what makes Tony work as a character. The alcoholism,
the guilt about his tech being used for weapons and being sold to the
underworld to create a class of tech criminals, etc. are integral to the
mythos.
