It's pretty much a consensus among fans of the show that "The Prisoner" was a sequel to McGoohan's "Danger Man" ("Secret Agent" on this side of the Pond), when McGoohan's John Drake decided that he'd had enough of the spy game, but couldn't be allowed to retire, as he knew too much.
