That's probably true. What needs to be done is a proposal that forces or pushes electronics manufacturers to move in a more energy conscious direction. The same thing that had to be done with car manufacturers.
One of the few things that was done right by Ahhhnald was he signed the bill forcing large flat screen makers to stop selling energy inefficient tvs in california. Some of the new big tvs were making the lights dim in older homes. 1200+ watts is like running your microwave for a couple of hours. It starts to show up on your electric bill in a big way.
