Daryle, love your take! You touch on a couple of things most of the critics
(including myself) leave out of their reviews:

a) Jackson's Nick Fury is like something out of another movie. His Sam L. vibe
is jarringly out of character/kilter (you name it) with what everyone else is
doing.

and

b) The father/son stuff (both between Anton and Ivan Vanko and Howard and Tony
Stark) is a rich vein well mined. The "archival" footage with "Mad Men"'s John
Slattery is inspired (I, personally, wish they had signed my favorite redhead
"Mad Men"'s Christina Hendricks as Pepper Potts but I agree, this is Paltrow's
best performance since she grabbed her Oscar - and she, surprisingly, holds her
own in high heels and pencil skirts with Scarlett Johansson of the eponymous
Scarjo Hotness Meter
