MEGAPIRANHA. MANSQUITO. Mongolian death worm. Of all th monster names the Syfy channel has trotted out for its Saturday Original Movies, its latest may set a new standard for cinematic cheese: Tiffany and Debbie Gibson will costar in next year's MEGA PHYTHON VS. GATOROID.
That's right, the once feuding '80's mall divas will share the screen in an original film from the network, as part of its signature Saturday-night monster series that has seen stars like David Hasselhoff and Eric Roberts battle anacondas and sharktopuses (sharktopi?). Launched in 2002, Syfy's shlockfests have lately become must-see TV for shut-ins with a soft spot for bloodthirsty beasts, babes, and body counts, averaging just under 2 million viewers a week. The network currently has 50 more creature features in development. ~(no)rave!
