Great stuff, and with "Bullitt", one of the best all time car chases in history--something that's not done often or well in movies nowadays. The last great one I can remember that stayed with me was in "Ronin".
The one they're missing that I love is Sam Peckinpah's "The Getaway", with Ali McGraw. It has an almost Spaghetti Western feel to it, with the minimal dialogue, the crazy, over-the-top characters, and camera work that most directors nowadays simply don't get. It's just a fun ride that I watch everytime it airs. Far superiour to the Alec Baldwin/Kim Bassinger remake that came later... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kelwyn" <ravena...@yahoo.com> To: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, August 3, 2010 10:16:18 AM Subject: [scifinoir2] Steve McQueen Star of the Day on TCM today 11 am The Blob 12 pm Steve McQueen: The Essence of Cool 1:30 pm The Great Escape 7 pm The Magnificent Seven 9:15 pm Bullitt 3 am The Cincinnati Kid Of course, if your response is (as my children's would be), "Who's Steve McQueen?" - nevahmind! ~rave!
