no, it's not of the absurd. the idea is that the truly mentally sick could not create theater of the absurd or any other sort of theater -- because so much persistance and sanity are required to make art. not so much as being either an idiot savant, or one of the recluses who makes art for the sheer joy and catharsis and doesn't share with the open world,
but actually being an artist and functioning -- the artist is in the world but generally speaking not of it. they have an other worldly perspective. samuel r. delany had that perspective - the motion of light in water is worth reading.
