Oh gee! It totally didn't occur to me that there are gangs in the world. Sometimes the mind just falls flat. Basically the black gang is a term used in fantasy, generally fantasy. Here is someone's description of it: http://www.elfwood.com/art/i/n/ingrid/gang.jpg.html
The Black Gang Everyone has their personal demons, these are mine. Self-Loathing, Selfishness, Jealousy, and Paranoia. Guess which is which! The term 'black gang' is a reference to Lois McMaster Bujold's 'Mirror Dance' which itself refers to the coal shovelers on old ships who were called black gangs and snubbed by the passengers, even though without them travel would be impossible. My black gang isn't quite as useful but it's a fundamental, if unwanted, part of people's lives. So, Rave, it's a bit like the muse or the subconscious. RL Stephenson called them "The Brownies." The thing, though, is that if a story was created by one's black gang, one may not want to claim it...even if someone reading the story sees it. I like to think of myself as somewhat sane and proper, but if I were to write a story full of sexual mayhem and someone says, "you have an inner ho trying to get out," would I little miss prim and proper accept that? That's what the black gang is about. I know in my life I always want to write about beautiful lovely things but inevitably when i start writing, all sorts of stuff about war, death, female cruelty to each other, and other major psychiatric issues and mayhem pops up. In spite of me. -C --- In SciFiNoir_Lit@yahoogroups.com, "ravenadal" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Give me more of that "white gang" "black gang" thang. Please expound. > > ~rave!
