I cannot think of another place that users would actually look at. By the way, if anybody has an idea on a clever way of failing in such a situation it would be useful. Maybe exporting an environment variable '__joblib__forked__' at fork time, and at the import time of joblib raising an error if that environment variable is present. It seems to me that this would capture the problem. What do people think?
