Hi,
I would like to clarify some points.
Google funds open source projects with google summer codes. Each project has
a few GSOC slots. Last year, scikit-learn got two slots. Each year,
we have more applicants than available slots. A selection is made
based in the quality of the application
(see
https://github.com/scikit-learn/scikit-learn/wiki/Google-summer-of-code-%28GSOC%29-2014#instructions-to-student-achieving-a-good-proposal).
Also note that if several GSOC candidates apply for exactly the same subject,
only one will be accepted.
In this perspective, the student application deadline is for March 21, 19:00
UTC (which is in three days).
Unfortunately, the code of the fest library is not bsd compatible and we can’t
copy/read
what is done there. I want also to point out that it’s not because a code
provide some supports for
a sparse format that this is efficiently done, tested and maintanable.
Best,
Arnaud
