After reading some theory on support vector machines I have come to the conclusion that they are right. Any manifold can be expressed as a plane in a higher dimensional space. A spheroid surface like that of Earth is easily described as a hyperplane by including the quadratic terms. Flat Earthers perceive higher dimensions than the rest of us.
