I've been having this irritating problem for several months. Every time I
copy something from an another application and paste it into SciTE, all
scandinavian characters get converted to their UTF-8 equivalents. Or if I
copy something from SciTE to another app, the characters get messed up.
A workaround is to set the encoding to UTF-8, but then I'd have to save
the text file as UTF-8, too. That's not what I want.
Another annoying problem is that if I want to convert these characters
from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1, I have to manually do that for every character
in question. And the search & replace dialog doesn't understand
scandinavian characters unless they are in UTF-8, so I have to type in
something like \xe4 and \xf6 all the time.
Is there a way to solve these problems? I've tried to look in the docs,
but can't find anything that relates to this problem.
My OS is SuSE Linux 9.2, but the same happened with the Debians in my
university. I'm using KDE 3.3.0. I run into the problem at least with
SciTE versions 1.62 and 1.63.
