Summary: A Shift+Ctrl+V cycling "Paste" like in VS .NET 2003

Initial Comment:
I recently discovered that VS .NET 2003 has a really
interesting feature:
- as usual Ctrl+V performs a "Paste"
- the intersting thing is tat Shift+Ctrl+V cycles
through the former "Copied" values so that you don't
need anymore to navigate back and forth to get your
multi copy done

An example, I want to copy the if line and to
substitute iToto by iTiti and I have the following lines:
int iTiti = 12;
if (iToto == 0)

first I copy "iTiti", then I copy the whole "if" line
and paste it miles away in the code
I select "iToto" and hold down Shift+Ctrl and push
twice V and I pasted "iTiti"

I find this feature really useful, and thus I hope
somebody would be nice enough to code it in SciTE

Since you seems to be on Windows, you can use a clipboard manager to do this kind of task, with the added bonus of being usable on all Windows applications, not only SciTE. There are numerous such applications as freewares, you can find a number of them in Nonags, for example:

http://ftp.sunet.se/nonags/clipb.html
(that's just my favorite mirror... try also http://www.nonags.com)

I recommend to go to the Homepages for download, as usually they have a more recent version than on this server.

Your choice may vary with your taste, but my choice is for ArsClip:

http://www.joejoesoft.com/ac.php

Quite small, good set of functionalities without being bloated with unneeded ones. What I like most is that usual Ctrl+XCV works the same, but if you hit the customizable hotkey (I use Ctrl+Shift+V too), it presents a list of the copy/cut history with short excerpt, and you can choose the entry you want with mouse, arrows, or number shortcut. And it can store a number of frequently used text snippets.

Simple, unobtrusive, quick to call everywhere...
It is open-source, written in Delphi 6.

Two caveats:

- One probably occurring with most of such softwares: with Office 97, which I still use (did you said old? Still have all I need...), Word and ArsClip crash when I cut text. Seen a similar bug report for another clipboard manager <http://www.cybermatrix.com/clipmag.html>, so it is a Word 97 problem. No prob with later versions of Word. I just have to remember to exit ArsClip before using Word...
I wish there was a shortcut to deactivate ArsClip without exiting it.

- Sometime it reports an error on startup, as it cannot reread the clip history from the file it has written... Intermittent bug.

-----8<-----
ArsClip
Access violation at address 00404B7C in module 'ARSCLIP.EXE'. Read of address FFFFFFFF.

ArsClip
The "Load items from last session" file is corrupted - C:\PROGRAM FILES\UTILITAIRES SYSTèME\remember.txt

Error Message: 'require' is not a valid integer value
----->8-----

It doesn't prevent ArsClip from functioning. Since I don't use long term history, I just deactivated to option to store the history in this file...

HTH.
