That's good enough for my use I think. I didn't realise that's what these messages meant, it seems obvious now ;-) I might like to suggest a rewording of the docs to clarify this, as I found it a bit confusing, if you don't mind. Let me know.

You can not choose an independent specific colour for a margin. The SC_MARGIN_BACK and SC_MARGIN_FORE margin types use the background and foreground colours of the default style.
