Hello,
I must first thank you for Scintilla. Then thank you for making the thing so
easy to use. I have been able to provide my little script editing
application with some real potential power.

My application is a script editing and video editor GUI for the video
application "AviSynth" (avisynth.org); a script based non-linear video editing
and
processing program.

avsFilmCutter (members.aol.com/avsfilmcutter) aids script filter chain
creation and has a built in DShow video viewer / player which supports script
witting and editing needs. Current version uses windows edit control. Last
alpha
@ members.aol.com/avsfilmcutter/alpha.html uses Scintilla.

FilmCutter is organized into different activities.

Script authoring.
Script authoring with preview or preview alone.
media viewer no script editor viewable
scene editor no script editor viewable

Using latest 1.72 build from wscite172.zip

When the editor is first opened selecting, dragging and dropping work as
expected. If we switch to Script preview with editor, the d and d works. The
viewer has just been loaded and we have the editor, if we use it we must
update
the viewer with a new script. Currently FilmCutter closes the interface
entirely releasing all components of the interface and then reopens with the
new
version of the script. If we close the Direct Show interface we lose Scintilla
d and d and to the best of my knowledge that is all we lose. FilmCutter must
be closed for the editor to return.

My first real exposure to com objects is the video viewer interface (I am a
self taught hobbyist).

I have spent a lot of time with the direct show interface making sure that
all shuts down as it is suppose to, that of course doesn't mean I have done it
correctly. I did have an interface leak, killed my pointers but left an
inaccessible viewer in memory, I found.

Hope this make even a little sense.

Any ideas, either way, thanks.
ebob
