AlphaBlend won't be used when alpha=256. When an application asks for alpha and Scintilla can't provide it the result is ugly and Scintilla doesn't tell the application that it can't do alpha so the application has to guess itself. Its not a big deal since the platforms that don't do alpha are so little used now. Jeffrey Ren works on older versions of Windows so cares about this.
