Hi,
The PC/SC software currently on this site supports the API calls described
in the MSDN 1998 cd set by Microsoft describing the winscard interface.
There are also functions that extend this to provide support for memory
cards/etc. This will also be extended to support extended smartcard
management using RPC. One version already uses CORBA to provide this but
is rather large in size. But, yes you can write platform independant
smartcard applications using the winscard interface that will run on both
Unix and Windows.
