I think this is important enough to put some research effort in it. But only if we're talking about the FS-centric Node classes "Node.FS.Base" and its derivants. From an architectural point of view I still see SCons as a "build framework". At the moment we're mainly supporting files and folders as Nodes, but I'd like to have enough flexibility to also support e.g. "database Nodes", if required.
