Hi Steve. "Auld Rattray" was composed by Jim Watson, whose most well-known composition is the Strathspey "Sidlaw Hills". Both were published in 'Ian Powrie's Selection of Scottish Country Dance Tunes' (no date, but I'd guess early 1950s). I always imagined it to be a place, but I X:673 T:Auld Rattray C:Jim Watson B:Ian Powrie's Selection (n.d., c1950s) Z:Nigel Gatherer M:2/4 L:1/8 K:D fe | d2 A2 | GF ED | FA A>B | Ag fe | d2 A2 | GF ED | fe e>f | eg fe | d2 A2 | GF ED | G>F GA | Bg fe | d>A FD | GB AE | F2 D2 | D2 fg | a>g fe | d2 FA | G>F GA | B2 fg | a>g fe | df ad | f2 e2 | e2 fg | a>g fe | d2 FA | G>F GA | Bg fe | d>A FD | GB AE | F2 D2 | D2 |] -- Nigel Gatherer, Crieff, Scotland mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music & Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
