I can't be the only one, but no one else is asking, so....why am I getting
messages from Yahoo Groups for this list? One email in particular wants me
to verify that [EMAIL PROTECTED] is my email address, while
the others are about joining "zoomtext" all with reference to
argyll.wisemagic.com.
Are you setting up the list at Yahoo Groups? Is anyone else getting
messages like this? Toby, there are verification codes and passwords in one
of these messages. I won't hit "delete" (yet) just in case you want to see
them.

You are not going mad! I'm getting them as well!
Just ignore them - some spambot has attempted to join a yahoo groups (zoomtext) using the generic list address - probably some defective spambots coding.
YahooGroups is now sending (a legitimate - as far as it sees it!) message to the e-mail address of the group - which is now being recieved by everyone subscribed to Scots-l.
Just delete it.
