no error messages on screen or the log files. It does not promt me
for a username/pw as it should but takes me straight into the page.
I have tried putting the .htaccess file in the doc root dir in case
there was something overriding where i wanted to restrict access.
Not sure what else I can say. I compiled in quite a few modules
into apache such as mod_auth, mod_access so not sure if these will
have an effect.
