try the following... (I wondered why I couldn't find traceroute, I was
begining to think it had been renamed)
as root do:
ln /usr/sbin/traceroute /usr/bin/traceroute -s
or if you are as lazy a typer as I am :-
ln /usr/sbin/traceroute /usr/bin/trace -s
Cheers,
IWD

my debian 2.2r3 box runs like this (and annoys the hell out of me everytime
i want to traceroute as non-r00t) ...
intrepid:~> rdate ntp1.demon.co.uk
rdate: Command not found.
intrepid:~> su
Password:
intrepid:/home/support/neuro# rdate ntp1.demon.co.uk
Wed Apr 18 17:02:39 2001
but my ancient slackware 3.3 box doesn't ...
columbia:~> netdate ntp1.demon.co.uk
netdate: settimeofday: Operation not permitted
ntp1.demon.co.uk +0.466 Wed Apr 18 17:01:24.000
columbia:~> su
Password:
# netdate ntp1.demon.co.uk
ntp1.demon.co.uk +0.158 Wed Apr 18 17:01:34.000
