If all else fails, you could try kfdns from the scotlug website - it
configures bind to use the DNS system from the top down - i.e. it's ISP
independent. This config is really designed for boxes left switched on all
the time - untill the cache starts to fill up there can be a LOT of
latency, but it might help to identify any issues.
