Oh yes - did you have a framebuffer console?? - Check the options - I
think the ones you need are :-
In console drivers --> Frame Buffer Support
VESA VGA graphics console
Advanced Low level options
8, 16, 24 & 32 bpp packed pixels support
VGA Characters/attributes support
VGA 8x8 font
VGA 8x16 font
If any of these are missing, try adding them in, recompile, re-install and
re-boot
