I've recently installed Mandrake 8.0 on one of the computers in my small
home network. Everything seems to have gone fairly smoothly except
setting up a printer. I've got an ancient BJ-10ex attached to a server
machine and I followed the Mandrake dialogue to set up remote lpd
operation -- something which I've done without any glitches on the various
RedHat, Mandrake 7.0, 7.1 and Debian incarnations that my machines have
gone through. However, with Mandrake 8.0, the wizard seems to think that
the printer's uses Netware protocol rather than remote lpd, which is the
box I've always ticked. Even hacking /etc/printcap by hand (using a
working copy from a Mandrake 7.1 box) doesn't appear to work. Any ideas??
