Hey there... I guess I start by introducing myself. I've not been along to any meetings yet, having only recently moved to Glasgow and installed Linux (currently Slack8, I'm still experimenting a little). I don't have a working hardware modem at the moment, so I'm forced to use windows for my mailing list posts etc ( :( )... ah well. I'm 18 years old, about to start a CS degree at Glasgow Uni. I'm involved to varying degrees in the embryonic FSF Europe ( http://www.fsfeurope.org ) the UK Campaign for Digital Rights ( http://uk.eurorights.org ) and the KDE usability study ( http://usability.kde.org ) I should be along at this month's meeting. The request for help part of the subject is in reference to the CDR... we'll be undertaking various protests against the EUCD and CD content protection. Leafletters/protestors are needed in Glasgow (and any other reasonably-sized town or city) to combat these... the current plan is to distribute leaflets to punters outside of major record stores (Virgin, HMV etc). Provisional date is October 7th. A full day's worth of leaflets should cost about 6 or 7 pounds each, depending on how many people we get, economies of scale being what they are. Please, please email me if you're interested, every person makes a difference. There's more info on the CDR webpage. /me hopes that doesn't count as spam -- Alistair Davidson Read my comic, Bizmatch! http://www.altgeek.org/lord_inh/comic/index.html _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
