Not necessarily. If you have a local DNS server for "local" mail domains then sendmail is happy. oh - unless you use a smart host. I managed to get this working correctly - there are pages out there somewhere (referenced from sendmail.org?) that explained for old versions. If I can find my notes, I'll mail more, failing that, wanna borrow my bat book?
