I have gone through the discussion on group. For python3 porting I have
started going through the documentation. I will try to port some twisted
module to python3. This would give me some idea into the twisted framework.
Also I would start building up a proposal for Porting to Python 3 and list
down all the tasks which need to be done for porting.

To have a better understanding of Scrapy codebase, I would like to start
with porting some of the test cases for Py3

This one is an ambitious project for me. Something I would love to work on
as I find it very interesting and useful. This project would give a good
understanding into various aspects of Python , Scrapy :).

I am quite familiar with Ipython notebook. I have some experience working
with Scrapy. My development environment is ready to dig into internals of
Scrapy.

I understand this would be a small project for Gsoc. I am a heavy fedora
user and would love to see Scrapy packaged for Fedora. Would start soon on
packaging it for fedora. :)
