Several years ago I wanted to add to screen a patch adding the sockdir option run-time configuration option and status option. Maybe they could be included in some form? sockdir local|shared shared means that the sockets directory may be shared between various hosts and screen -wipe command will NOT wipe non-local sockets. status [ top | up | down | bottom ] [ left | right ] The status window by default is in bottom-left corner. This command can move status messages to any corner of the screen. top is the same as up, down is the same as bottom. Status covering left side, especially bottom left is very annoying because it covers the prompt and e.g. with visual bell I have to wait to see the contents beind this visual signal. The distributions compile the default status position. I used to recompile but it is tedious. I would be much easier just to keep the favourite settings in the configuration file. The patches are in ftp://ftp.icm.edu.pl/private/rzm/patches/ The last tested one is screen-4.0.2-rzm2.diff . screen-4.0.3-rzm2.diff and screen-4.1.0.2014-03-24.rzm2.diff are regenerated from screen-4.0.2-rzm2.diff but not yet tested.
