Follow-up Comment #5, bug #43054 (project screen):
Further tested screen 4.0.3 on Slackware 14.1 (32-bit) and screen 4.4.0 on
Slackware 14.2 (32-bit).
The 4.0.3 version did NOT manifest the freezing problem but the 4.4.0 version
froze using the same step-to-reproduce procedures mentioned in previous
messages.
