Up to 4.8.0, screen would leave the window title of an xterm alone upon start.
As of (at least) 4.9.1, screen changes the title to "xterm".
Example:
$ xtitle FOO # changes xterm's title to "FOO"
$ screen-4.8.0 # window title is still "FOO" afterwards
$ exit # window title is still "FOO" afterwards
$ screen-4.9.1 # window title becomes "xterm"
$ exit # window title is still "xterm"
The behavior is independent of giving the new session a session name via "-S
<name>". It also happens if screen is called with "-c /dev/null".
TERM outside screen is "xterm-256color" and inside screen, it is
"screen.xterm.256color".
As I need the xterm titles to efficiently command my X session via key
combinations, I would love to see this bug (or feature?) squashed.
