Both Stahls' and Specialty Materials (and probably other places) make a
material called Colorprint. We buy this and then take it to a local sign
company that has an ecosolvent printer. We e-mail the logo; they print and
cut it; we transfer it to a backing material; use our heat press and put it
on the shirt. It saved us this winter when we had to put a six-color logo on
sweatshirts with a thick, waffle-pattern lining. On my latest wash test, the
Specialty Material is holding up much, much better than the Stahls',
although Stahls' transfer material (Colorprint Mask) is much easier to use
and results in more vibrant colors. (We used it with the Specialty Materials
Colorpint without problem).

These materials cost somewhere between $9-10/yard (Specialty Materials is
twice as wide, but for total yardage it was slightly less expensive), and
the mask is about $1/yard, plus we pay the sign company, but that's as many
colors as we want, whatever dimensions we want, and they're just across town
and generally get things back to us within three days.

I don't know how these costs compare to your transfers, but if you know a
sign company somewhere near you, it might be worth looking into.
