If you are thinking of writing a driver for a USB device, I strongly 
suggest you get a copy of Jan Axelson's "USB Complete" first and study it 
carefully. It will give you loads of useful, well-targeted information on 
the ins-and-outs of USB driver writing.

Disclaimer: I reviewed a prepublication copy and now have a copy of the 
published work, but that is my only connection with this book. I just think 
it is a very well done treatment of exactly what you need to know.
