Grab your Phillips, it's... The Latest from The Screwdriver List! Hi Crew, I've got a client who had two laptops packed side by side, ports down, in a small rolling case. She bought a bottle of Balsamic vinegar dressing (sealed tight), packed it on top of the laptops and got on a plane with the bag. Needless to say, the bottle leaked, dripped down to the bottom of the case and soaked the ports. Disassembling one, I found that there was still some liquid residue and the bulk of the liquid had dried to a shellac-like material. The ingredients were: canola oil, olive oil, Balsamic vinegar, and honey. I tried some electonic component cleaner from Radio Shack on a metal part first and it didn't make a dent. Escalating the cure, I tried denatured alcohol, acetone, paint thinner and lacquer thinner all to no avail. I know that honey and vinegar are water soluable, and oil should dissolve in any of the abovementioned solvents, but I haven't a clue as to where to go next. I need something that's safe on plastic and printed circuit boards. Would soldering flux remover be effective? Any help would be greatly appreciated and would make me a big hero with the client. Thanks in advance, Neal -- *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Neal Pollack PressPlay Computer Consultants [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pressplay.net Carbondale, CO, USA [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Reality has limits; stupidity, none." -Napoleon Bonaparte++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ That's all for now from The Screwdriver List "Red Stripe to Pin 1" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
