Hi everyone! Several weeks ago I've informed Franz Schmid about a problem/bug in the Automake setup of Scribus and its plug-in packages. Since I haven't received any answer, I'd like to archive my report and solution here. To make it short, overriding $(libdir) in Makefile.am is a bad thing to do. It is bad because package users can no longer define an own libdir. It causes trouble for packagers and distributors who use RPM macros like %makeinstall. The clean and proper way to install libraries in a different location is attached as a patch. The separate plug-in packages should be patched the same way. In case KDevelop is to blame for creating the Makefile.ams that override $(libdir), I'm sorry, but it is beyond my time to enter that into any bug database system at www.kdevelop.org, and I don't know whether the KDevelop developers' mailing list can be posted to without subscription. Thanks in advance for any KDevelop users for forwarding this mail.
