Thanks, I needed to do that because I deleted all of the fonts.cache files. Paul's suggestion of a "xset fp rehash" seems to have fixed the problem. I have not had a chance to extensively test it yet, but after issuing that command all of my qt apps looked like they did in redhat 9, so I'm pretty sure that was it. Now to find out why xinerama will not work, which is why I haven't been testing scribus throughly. Thanks for all the help Scott
