Compiling Scribus with Cygwin, needs to have an update to the docs. >From my *very* basic knowledge of Qt and understanding the patches made by Martin Gassner for HP-UX, a set of patches needs to be made to Scribus, so when compiled under Cygwin, it finds the plug-ins. This is the single largest issue to make Scribus run with KDE-Cygwin. I just have not had the time to play with it much in the past few months. Basics: 1. You need the exact version of Cygwin 1.3.20 or 1.3.21. Later ones have partial 64 bit file support which breaks the ported Qt-X11 2. You need the gcc2 and tool chain including specially patched versions of ld and 3. A good knowledge of both Windows envirnoment variables and Cygwin. 4. A fast machine with at least 512 Mb or ram. Moreover, I am waiting a bit for the KDE-Cygwin team to progress a little further before diving back in. They *are* doing some very interesting things and are also pushing for a GPL Qt3-Win32. Already some stuff is working and with some changes to the font and printing code, this would enable someday a native Win32 Scribus. This project is under very heavy development, but not in any sense stable or finished. Regards, Peter
