As a happy user of LaTeX / TeX I tell you the justification algorithms work well and are justifiably famous. Quark is notorious for justifying only line by line. If Scribus can get so smart and since many users will want multi columns and other short frame type layouts it ESSENTIAL that a good justification be available. With double columns Quark gives poor layout and wierd hyphenations especially on smaller pages (books).
