Some hints: http://ahnews.music.salford.ac.uk/scribus/documentation/pre-press.html This details my testing of Scribus PDF's with professional pre-press software and other DTP applications. I have tested Scribus PDF's extensively in Illustrator 10. Unless recent changes has affected something, I have always been able to work open and *lightly* edit Scribus PDFs - mostly for testing compatibility. Example: I have opened a Scribus created PDF of the Scribus logo in Illustrator and saved it as an AI (Illy native) file. Printing and on-screen appearance are exactly the same. That said, for pre-press, I would not want a printer messing around with Scribus PDF's *except* with Pit Stop Professional IMNSHO. In my professional opinion, any printer or service handling PDF is very remiss in not having Pit Stop and/or Callas' PDF Inspektor. There are no other comparably powerful (and efficient) ways of pre-flighting PDF. I could not imagine working with PDF in pre-press without these tools.
