[Scribus] critical edition typesetting

Dear list,

I'm trying my hands at a critical edition
and am curious if Scribus could be of any
help.
In other words: is there any support (planned)
for     * footnotes (several bodies)
        * endnotes
        * line numbering
        * cross-references (to page and line number)
        * indexes (several), etc.

Can these things be implemented by a mere mortal
python programmer and what could be a starting
point for this person ?
