Hi, > "fiancee"? Type 'e. I know this is already a "feature" of some > X or *n*x console keymaps. Why not have a similar feature in > Scribus?
This kind of support should really be system-wide, not specific to a particular program. I've just tested both Thunderbird and Scribus here on my Mandrake 9.2 based UK keymap machine, and the standard X deadkeys work perfectly: Alt Gr + ; e gives ?, Alt Gr + ' e gives ?, Alt Gr + # e gives ?, Alt Gr + + c gives ? and there are others - not to mention the special characters than can be obtained with Alt Gr and normal keys. These may not be the most logical keys to use, but they do work throughout the system, and are easily learnable. All the best,
