Last year I too had a hard disk crash. I went from SuSE 8.2 to 9.0 PROFESSIONAL. There is quite a mass of development libraries in the Pro edition.
The SuSE upgrade page must be followed as their library placement is quite exacting (i have found from experience: do rpm -Uvh *.patch.rpm!) Be careful of GNOME upgrades; they are difficult; they may fail or even wreck the window manager. Stick with KDE. A qt3-3.3 upgrade is shown for February 13, 2004. Scribus undoubtedly compiles AND appears. This list is an excellent resource. bart at solozone.com
