Starting from a terminal and monitoring .xsession-errors with tail -f shows no errors from Scribus - X did complain about some other things (mainly missing fonts) when it started, but nothing when Scribus starts or is used. The terminal reports only the "Can't find Plug-in" error when Settings->preferences is clicked, nothing else. (I mis-quoted the error message earlier - sorry.) >Which machine has the no preferences issue ? the upgraded one or the done >installed from DVD ?
