Eric, Yes, it comes straight from the horse's mouth such as the parts 6.13 and 6.14 of the The Debian GNU/Linux FAQ Chapter 6 - Basics of the Debian package management system located at http://www.debian.org/doc/FAQ/ch-pkg_basics.en.html . Debuild drives the dpkg-buildpackage and "-us -uc" options come from the latter.
