I know that Quark and Adobe would howl at this thought, but what about the idea of pushing for a DTP file standard?
Gimp, Photoshop, Cinepaint, Painter, et al, can all read and write several common formats in addition to having their own native file formats.. Why not Scribus and the others? Granted DTP files can be more complicated, but all computer files are just sets of instructions and data, right? Is that on the plate? I'd think a lingua franca format would be conceptually in line with the whole notion of open source software.. John
