Of course it would be much easier to simply write a ./configure wrapper for
cmake, like this:

$ echo -e "#/bin/sh\ncmake \$@ ." > configure
$ chmod a+x ./configure
$ ./configure && make && make install

Then all you'd have to do is to ignore the different output and the higher
speed :-)
